MOUNTAINVIEW, California – A SETI listening post in Northern Alaska has picked up a strange signal from space. The post has been concentrating on an exoplanet in the Proxima Centauri b area of our galaxy, which is around 4.22 light years away.

The message read, “We of the planet 00110011 thank you for sending us your cute little moving photos of that Lucy lady. We love her too. We look forward to meeting her when we arrive in…”

The message broke off after that.

Doctor Marty Mann, director of the listening post, said, “We are intrigued by this message. We assume the Lucy they are mentioning is Lucille Ball, who was quite famous in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Hopefully, they won’t be too disappointed when they learn Ms. Ball passed in 1989. I enjoyed her show as a small child. I feel that will help us bond with our alien friends.” Doctor Mann estimates the aliens from planet 00110011 would probably take somewhere between 400 and 1000 years to arrive here, unless they have warp technology; in that case, they could arrive at any time.

Even though famous scientist Stephen Hawking was known to believe that whenever advanced beings come in contact with less advanced beings, it usually doesn’t end well for the less advanced being. Dr. Mann countered, “Surely beings who love Lucy can’t be dangerous.”
