WASHINGTON – More details have emerged about the next Kennedy Center Honors awards program, and among the planned highlights are a celebrity wrestling match and a live-streaming episode of a new reality TV show.

President Donald Trump recently announced the recipients of this year’s Honors: actor Sylvester Stallone, singers George Strait and Gloria Gaynor, actor-singer Michael Crawford, and members of the rock band KISS. The recent update said that during the show, Stallone and KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons would face off in the wrestling ring and that Gaynor, Strait, and KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley would be celebrity judges for the debut of I Can Sing, Why Can’t You?.

Trump, who said that he would be the host for the program, to take place on December 7, confirmed that he would also be the wrestling referee in the ring. The longtime aficionado said he couldn’t think of anywhere he’d rather be and that he would be certain to honor the spirit of Hulk Hogan during the event.

The new music reality show will feature heretofore unknown artists performing in head-to-head pairs, each singing a different song at the same time, aiming to outdo the other. Each half-hour show will feature two semifinals and then a final, with the judges selecting the finalists and then the winner based on criteria that include crassness, outrageous costumes, and musical ability (or lack thereof). Stanley said that he was already an expert on the criteria.
