Cambridge, Massachusetts – University job fairs are an excellent way for students to find a new employer as they finish their school semester. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran set up a booth to recruit nuclear engineers at Harvard University this past week. It is an unusual move by this military arm of the Iranian government. However, they are desperately looking for new nuclear engineers to move to Iran and support their peaceful nuclear program.
The Perenial has interviewed one of the Iranian officers, and we inquired about their reasoning for recruiting from the United States. Mehdi Mooshk explains: “This is a great university that produces great engineers, and we need the most extraordinary minds for our program. We believe there are opportunities for our organization to win recruits here, considering the recent moves from the Trump administration to cancel visas for certain students.
Alison Trucker, a third-year student from the School of Nuclear Engineering, was considering the opportunity. She explained that she would not have to finish her course at Harvard; they would be able to hire her immediately, and she could finish her studies while working. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran offered higher pay than what she would expect in the US, with incredible medical benefits, including enhanced disability insurance.
