TORONTO, Canada — A 75-year-old Indian man, Iam Sukhwinder, was held today at the Toronto Pearson International Airport due to the quantity and variety of illegal items in his possession. Among the items found so far was a Rotti Dabba style pot filled with food, swords, shields, wooden sticks, curry spice bags, flat bread, scrolls and other unknown artifacts. We learned from the Canadian officials that some articles are part of the man’s Sikh religious background from northern India. Officials are currently slowly un-layering the man and his turban, carefully avoiding surprises and injuries. This process is expected to take 2 days due to the sheer quantity of clothing the man is carrying, which in itself exceeds the customs allowed limit. Customs officials purchased 2-wheel barrels to transport the removed clothing to the airport laundry facilities.
The Perineal reached out to Max Singh, a translator at the Toronto Airport. Max explained that the man is bringing in typical cultural items from the Punjab region. He advised that the man was unaware that certain items were illegal under Canadian customs. The Roti Dabba pot was filled with Keema, which has lamb meat, an unlawful product for customs. The dish was prepared in India and kept under his turban and over his head to keep it warm for the long journey. The bread found under his arms is part of the dish. Max further explained that the shield, daggers, and swords found are antique items used as ornaments, not truly weapons.
It is not clear if the Canadian officials will allow the man to enter the country. Katherine Hammond, the Corporate Safety and Security officer for the GTAA, is considering allowing the man in to visit his family; however, the Airport will keep the weapons in a safe until the man departs in 2 weeks after visiting his family of 123 members in the Toronto area. All officials agreed that the food items would need to be disposed of.
