WASHINGTON D.C. – A data analyst in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)  panicked and smashed her government-issued computer this week after running internal efficiency metrics that identified her own department as the most wasteful in the federal government.

According to coworkers, analyst Sahara Ray had been tasked with showcasing the effectiveness of DOGE’s new cost-cutting AI, which had already led to the elimination of dozens of agencies and the layoffs of thousands of federal employees. For months, DOGE employees had conveniently excluded themselves from the algorithm’s analysis, deeming themselves too important as the architects of the program.

That changed Tuesday, when Sahara accidentally included DOGE’s budget and operations data in a routine test run. Within 0.7 seconds, the AI flagged DOGE as a mistake, one that was not too late to fix. Sahara reportedly screamed, “No! It’s a bug!” before hurling her laptop across the office. Coworkers say she then attempted to unplug the central server before realizing it had already backed up to the cloud. Elon Musk posted on X after hearing about the event: “No agency is above DOGE!”
