SAN ANTONIO, TX – In a twist no one saw coming, not even Spirit itself, given that they sold off most of their airplanes last year, Americans are flocking to Spirit Airlines, not for its budget-friendly prices, but because it’s somehow become the one airline that might actually get you to your destination alive. Despite Spirit’s history of bad customer service and canceled flights, passengers are choosing it because it might just be their safest option

“I’m not sure if it’s a good decision,” said Kyle Henderson, a wary first-time Spirit flyer, “ I don’t think Spirit can afford $30k settlements with no strings attached like Delta if something goes wrong. They’ll probably only give you flight credits.”

He added that at least he wasn’t going to get sucked through a window like on Southwest or through a door like on Alaska Airlines.

Others were more optimistic. “Spirit might be missing a pilot which you do need to fly a plane,” explained Emily Ramos, another passenger. “But it hasn’t been involved in a crash. That could be because the planes rarely leave the ground. But when they do, you get there, alive and whole. Might get there ten days late, but you get there. And that’s all that matters.”

Despite lingering doubts, more passengers are choosing Spirit because it’s not crashing, and during these times, that’s enough. When asked about their key to staying the safest airline, Spirit replied, “Avoiding Boeing planes.”

At press time, Spirit passengers had landed at their location after one month of sitting in the plane but felt confident they’d made the best decision, given they had landed right-side up on their wheels, unlike Delta.
