DETROIT, Michigan – Proving that such a thing as too much self-respect exists, local job seeker Angelica Langley upheld her monetary standards directly into homelessness after declining 74 employment offers she deemed insultingly below her worth.

“My career counselor advised me to act desperate for a job, but I have standards,” said Langley, a recent graduate with no job experience, who turned down a $58,000 research coordinator position in her second year of unemployment for not offering the $100,000 she deserved. “I know what I bring to the table. They are not about to undervalue me.”

Sources confirmed Langley negotiated the first job she got after graduation and received an $80,000 offer, which she rejected, believing she was being lowballed, although it exceeded what most English majors hoped to earn, as most simply hoped for a job.

“I have classmates who studied computer science and are getting $100k offers. I know exactly how much I am worth,” Langley said after declining multiple freelance writing gigs, editing roles, and communications positions for offering inadequate pay.

When her savings ran low, she applied to a customer service job to cover rent, only to ghost the employer upon learning she would be expected to sweep floors despite holding an entire English degree.

By the time she was sleeping under an overpass, Langley declined her final offer, the chance to be a prostitute, over concerns it would give her some sort of income. Regrettably, Langley had died from hypothermia and starvation, dying as she lived without compromise or income.
